Create Your Ring
Both Mondera and Blue Nile have excellent engagement ring builder tools that guide you through the process of creating a ring and give you lots of information along the way. You can set your diamond search to sort by quality or price, or to balance the two. Any terms that might be unfamiliar are linked to explanations.
Once you find the diamond, you'll have a choice of settings that will perfectly match the diamond, so that you're sure the diamond will fit and look great in its setting.
Both sites also let you view a copy of the grading report for each diamond. You can also search for similar diamonds with one click.
Blue Nile has a cute feature that lets you see what the ring will look like on the hand from a couple of different viewing angles. They also have several closeups of the completed ring once you choose the diamond and setting. Neither can show you the exact ring, of course, but the setting with a comparable diamond to give you an idea.
 
Union Diamond doesn't have a ring builder tool. They do have several very comprehensive diamond searches. It's a bit more difficult to put together a ring using the site, but they have a number you can call to get expert help. You can also order preset rings on the Union Diamond site.
